Kerameikos

One of the liveliest areas of the city, full of interesting yards and well hidden terraces.

Located to the northwest of the Acropolis, Kerameikos is named after Keramos, son of Dionysios and Ariadne, hero of potters. Kerameikos is a neighborhood of many contrasts, from creative restaurants, interesting neo-tavernas to authentic ethnic hangouts. Within the area of  Kerameikos, lays one of the most important but least visited archaeological sites of the city,  the cemetery of ancient Athens.
